I”m not into those expensive systems you see in health stores. Are there certain foods to eat, things to drink, vitamins to take that will aid in flushing out toxins from my body that I can do at home? Also, I am taking a pro biotic, will it interfere with that?

I don’t want a diet! I just would like to cleanse my body of all the toxins and bad stuff to feel re-energized and healthy
I don’t want a diet! (However if the detox does have weight loss effects that’s ok, just making it clear that i am not specifically looking for a weight loss detox)
I just would like to cleanse my body of all the toxins and bad stuff to feel re-energized and healthy.

Answer:

Detoxing is a myth (not to be confused with physician supervised drug detoxification). It is an idea that was never backed by science but by companies selling scam products. Look into it through reputable sources of information and don’t waste your money. Just eat healthy, exercise and your body takes take of foreign and undesireable substances on its own.

Just want to really hear answers from people who have done the lemon detox diet or people who know people who have done it.. but after you do it does the weight stay off if you eat healthy? or does it just come back on?

Answer:

I done the Lemon diet (Cleanse) and some weight does comes back. It is mostly water weight, but if you eat healthy after getting off of it, then you should continue to loose the weight. Make sure you drink lots of water, and I would recommend eating lemons and grapefruits still after getting off of it. Lots of vitamins and natural detox.

Just don’t eat fast food and cook your own meals and you should be fine :) (Everything must be grilled and low fat) Lots of proteins

I’m considering detoxing but I want to have some recipes to do so. Any suggestions?

Answer:

A Detox Diet (also called a cleansing diet) will remove toxins and poisons from your body. The idea of a good detox diet is to eat pure and natural foods that will aid the function of the lymph, kidneys, and liver. All foods that hinder the regime will be avoided.

Detox diets are controversial. Many feel that most of the so-called “medical science” presented in these diets is nothing more than fiction. It is true that most of these diets have quite severe restrictions, and should be embarked upon with great care.

Detoxifying Your Body

Generally most detox diets will contain the following foods:

Organic food and drink (no pesticides or fungicides).
Whole unprocessed foods (grains, nuts, seeds, etc).
High mix of vegetables and fruit.
2 liters of water per day
Certain herbs such as Psyllium seed, Licorice root, Yucca root, Milk thistle seed, Gentian root, to aid the detoxifying process.

Most detox programs will avoid the following:

Alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, and drugs
Processed and refined foods
Certain supplements (due to the amount of additives).

Reduction of Stress

Many detox regimes are holistic in outlook. It is important to address other areas of stress in your life, and examine lifestyle as a whole.

I have been exercising for 8 months now 5-6 days a week consistently and have lost over 25 pounds, I have another 10 I would like to lose. I’ve always heard detox is a good way to give your body a fresh start.

Answer:

Unfortunately the whole concept of detox is an urban myth. It is based solely on the irrational rants of constipated Edwardians who refused to eat vegetables as the considered them food only fit for the lower classes to consume. As a result they had little option but to spend their time taking laxatives and purgatives and giving themselves enemas. Provided you have not already done too much damage to your body, your liver and kidneys will deal with problem of removing toxins from your body, as that was what they were designed to do. After that, tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life and you can start afresh.

Answers is chock a block with people wanting someone or something to lose weight for them. Unfortunately in case you haven’t heard it before, diets don’t work! Statistically 2 in 3 so called dieters end up heavier.

There is really only one way to sustain weight loss. Less in, more out. It is the second part that is essential, and of course that is also the reason most people fail. You need to do 30-40 minutes of vigorous exercise 5 days a week, FOR LIFE!

Unfortunately the vast majority of people who are desperate to lose weight and say they will do anything, actually mean try any fad diet or swallow any dubious pill, as long as they are not expected to get off the couch. Result? They are doomed to remain fat!

I’ve been reading some stuff about natural products that can help to detoxify your liver, anyone know anything about this or know where I can find out more?

Answer:

The best (and easiest and cheapest!) thing you can do is to eat a diet of at least 75% raw foods. (Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, fresh juices, lots of filtered water.)

Keep the colon clean to facilitate toxin elimination from the liver: Eating plenty of raw fibrous vegetables, like carrots, celery and cauliflower, will sweep out your colon nicely.

Foods high in Vitamin K (leafy greens, alfalfa sprouts) are especially beneficial.

Eat plenty of raw almonds, Brazil nuts, coconut, walnuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, or pumpkin seeds. These contain arginine, an amino acid which helps to detoxify ammonia, a by-product of protein digestion which accumulates in the liver.

I have searched on the net, but all the links either refer you to a wonder health pill or someones book. While I appreciate everyone needs to make a buck, I am just looking for a simple, natural, home remedy style detox program. Thanks so much!

Answer:

If what you want is to detox, you can try what i do, but again, it’s to cleanse and detox, not to lose weight. Eat only papaya and water for one day, the next, eat pineapple and papaya. The third, eat pineapple, papaya and light stock (vegetable only, preferably). On the fourth resume eating as you normally do. IF your skin breaks out, drink more water. If you feel faint or lightheaded, stop. Remember cleansing should be done while in optimal health and strenuous exercise should be avoided.
